I would like to start off by saying that the things Matthew covers here, he covers pretty well. But, there are a few things he either forgot about or just wasn't aware of , which is ok because we all do it. Moving on to my additions.

Talking about buying them, while watching this I thought about Etsy, which has a good number of stores offering their own 3d printed miniatures. There are also many shops offering the vintage figures made by Ral Partha (the only one that I can recall at the moment) and many of the other companies that have faded into the mists. My quick search, for this post, uncovered a good number of affordable options.

Matthew talks to a decent extent about Ebay, which is a great place to find almost anything you might want in the world. I have done a good deal of looking for very specific stuff there, and while I have found it it can get costly very quick. On the other hand, you can find large numbers like he suggests for not too much. But, he does forget to discuss the 3D printed items which many people make and sell on Ebay. Many YouTubers have either supported or been given some of these figures, and props, to bring awareness to these growing companies.

While I haven't been able to dive into this myself, one of the options I am willing to go to are the Age of Sigmar line of box sets. These can be quite costly for some of the sets, depending on how in demand they are, but there are some which are not too badly priced, and you get a decent number of baddies to fight. I would recommend this mostly for things where you feel you might need 10 or more. This also gives you the capability of making your world more unique to you.

There is one area where Matthew just kind of glosses by it, paper minis. This is probably the most affordable option out there, next to theater of the mind. Pathfinder does have a few box sets for their plastic card miniatures, and most of the creatures and characters are capable of being used for what ever TTRPG you play. If you would prefer to make your own it is very easy and can be ridiculously cheap. Wyloch has a video detailing the process he uses to make his. If you are unsure about which way you would prefer to go, Black Magic Craft recently talked about this in one of his videos and how he has his paper miniatures made.

I only have a couple more points to make here. About painting, I prefer to paint my own and Dr. Faust's Paint Clinic on YouTube is my go-to source for learning. I have watched many people, and while they have presented very good tips and methods for painting and equipment care, they weren't as entertaining to me, so I just stick with Dr. Faust.

Finally, and one of the most important themes of D&D, this is a game based on the extensive use of imagination. Therefore, you should not limit yourself to the art of the game, that is how the creators envision things and your view might vary a little bit or a lot. Matthew brings up a couple monsters that are specifically owned by Wizards of the Coast, and there might be figures for these creatures, that might cost a bit. However, if you find something that you think might work just as well, then use it. If you want it to be a slaad, then it's a damn slaad and no one can tell you otherwise.

I wanted to throw a few links down here for my favorite places to look for miniatures:

Reaper Miniatures, they have a great way to find a figure you might be looking for. Also they sometimes add a sample paint when you order directly from them, and the shipping costs are reasonable.

These are some of the places that sparked my interest on Etsy.

Miniature Market is one of my go-to places to find minis. They offer a decent variety of things and many services.

These are the cheaper options I have taken a liking to from Games Workshop. The first couple are pretty self-explanatory.

These would make decent hooked horrors.

Here is a reasonable option for some lizardfolk.

I thought these would be nice for a cult of wererats.
